Data Sources
The purpose of this page is to collect the data about the deaths in different countries in order to establish the anomaly created by the COVID-19 in 2020.The home page shows all the countries together with the data averaged per weeks and normalized to the population for each year considered. The shaded area represents the maximum and minimum for the past years, the white line is the average of the past years and the thick blue line is 2020. The deaths are per million of population. The death excess is calculated as the difference between 2020 and the average of the past years for the weeks when the 2020 is above the maximum value of the past years. The data are very different from country to country and the description of every dataset is below. Many data are incomplete in the last days, so the quick drop is due to that issue.
Lockdown and Stringency Index
The lockdown switch in the individual pages enables a graphical representation of the data from the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker. Lithuania does not have the lockdown data right now.
This website estimates the death toll of COVID measuring the difference of year 2020 from the average of the past years for the weeks when 2020 is above the maximum of the past years. This number is compared with the Johns Hopkins University report of the COVID cases obtained from the official daily bullettins of the various countries. The aim is to see if the two estimations are close enough.
